CAMBRIDGESHIRE RUMBLE
Sunday 25th JUNE 2023 – Long 104 Mile | Short 72Mile
Start/Finish: St Ives, Cambridgeshire
Welcome to the 15th edition of this popular sportive based around the Cambridgeshire roads and adjacent counties. This year’s event normally run in the spring has moved to warmer times in the middle of the year. We offer 2 challenging routes to suit all abilities and now offers a good climb or two on the longer route to test the legs. We will use Woodnewton village hall again to offer our special all singing and dancing fayre to accommodate all tastes and diets. The route will be fully arrowed with safety signage for riders and other road users alike.
This event often sells out and we are restricted to 400 entries, so early entry is advisable.
EVENT HQ
The St Ivo One Leisure centre in Westwood Road, St Ives PE27 6WU will host the registration from 07.30 am in the Zest Cafe area adjacent to the reception. There is plenty of car parking on site. Tea and coffee plus prepacked cakes and sandwiches will be available for sale.
PLEASE NOTE registration will not open before 07.30am and we will process long route riders first so to enable everyone to meet the start times. Registration will close at 09.00.

Please remember to log out with our officials at the Start so we know you have started; this is for your safety and our records of your whereabouts and ultimately your safe return to the finish.
There will be a short but serious pre ride briefing, so please ensure that you and those you plan to ride together get to the start in good time
FEED STOPS
There are 2 FEEDS on the LONG ride. 1st at 38 miles and 2nd at 71miles
All feeds are at WOODNEWTON VILLAGE HALL and will open from 09.45 and close at 14.00.

ROUTE
The route is fully arrowed with warning signs for your and others safety. Please always adhere to these instructions. Sample arrows and warning signage will be shown at the start. These will be where required and situated on each turn with a confirmation after the turn we will endeavour to have confirmation arrows every 1 to 2 miles along the route.
MECHANICAL SUPPORT
We have a broom wagon for terminal mechanicals and the Feed at Woodnewton will have some tools and spares to enable minor repairs.
We expect everyone to look after minor repairs and punctures themselves.
EMERGENCY TELEPHONE NUMBERS
HQ /START /FINISH/Broom Wagon 07876712098 please give your ride number and location.
Please note mobile reception is very poor on parts of the routes and a text often works.
FINISH
Please ensure you return to the finish and log back in, so we don’t start looking around the countryside for you. If you leave the route and don’t plan to finish, please contact the finish telephone number or text, with your name and ride number.
The finish is the same location as the Start where you will receive your food voucher for the Zest Café. The voucher for a cup of tea or coffee will help replenish your reserves.
Please have an enjoyable and safe ride and please remember this is a sportive and not a race, so please always adhere to the HIGHWAY CODE and be always courteous to all road users and fellow cyclists.
See you all Sunday.
Entries will be accepted on the day at a £6 surcharge. Please bring cash if possible due to a poor mobile signal in the area for contactless payments. We hope that the Rumble will remain on your list of rides and with this move to later in the season we hope that warmer conditions will prevail. The routes are the same but with slight changes in the long route to use the Woodnewton location twice.
However, do not be fooled as the distance and sometimes with the wind could offer a good challenge for the 100 milers on a revised route for 2023. If you want a good challenge the 72-miler medium ride will be good enough test for the legs.
HQ and registration will be held at St Ivo Centre where free tea and coffee will be available before and after the ride.
We plan to have mechanical support at the start for quick bike checks if required.
The feed at Woodnewton Village Hall will have opening and closing times for the longer routes and times will be posted at Registration based on 9mph average.
On your return to the finish, everyone will receive a medal, and snack.
